PullquoteBook a call

Your product is good.
Your blog probably isn’t.

Pullquote is a small content consultancy for tech companies with strong opinions. Your product reflects them; so should your blog.

We work with SaaS companies, software studios, and AI startups. Some of our writing is for engineers. Some of it’s for their bosses. Some of it’s for people who don’t know what an API is yet.

What we do

One — Execution

You bring the strategy. We bring the writers.

For teams who already know what they want to say and need it written well, on time, by people who understand the product. Briefs in, drafts out. Editorial standards as a line item.

For in-house teams with a clear content plan and not enough hands.

Two — Strategy + Execution

We plan. You approve. We deliver.

Full content audit, competitor mapping, a twelve-month calendar, and the writing itself. We sit in on planning, run the editorial, and deliver copy you’d put your name on.

For teams who don’t have a Head of Content — or whose CMO needs a team behind them.

How a project runs

  1. Intro call

Twenty minutes. We figure out what you’re trying to do, whether the work we do is the work you need, and what the honest bracket looks like. If it’s not a fit, we say so on the call.

  2. Audit or brief

For Execution, you send briefs. For Strategy + Execution, we do a four-week audit of your existing content and your buyer’s search landscape, then propose a calendar. Either way, nothing gets written until the brief or the plan is signed off.

  3. Draft

A writer on our roster — chosen because they’ve shipped in your space — takes the brief and files a draft. A named editor has already been over it before it lands in your inbox.

  4. Editorial pass

Two rounds with your team. We mark up your notes on the draft, argue where we disagree, and leave the copy in a state you’d put your name on.

  5. Delivery

Clean copy, in the format you want, ready to ship. Your team does the CMS wiring and the publishing; we hand over the writing.

Client engagements

An AI infrastructure company

Executive communications, 2024–2025

Name under NDA — a European cloud provider spun out of a large internet company, launching into the AI training market

Six months embedded with a newly-independent European cloud provider through their PR partner, as the writer between the engineering team and the communications team. The company had a dense body of product work — AI training infrastructure, a flagship European data-centre buildout, a platform story spanning compute, data, and tooling — and needed that work to land in English with the technical press, with enterprise practitioners, and under the bylines of named executives.

The value wasn't the press release — anyone can write a press release. It was sitting between the engineering side and the comms side, translating what the team had actually built into what a CTO needed to hear about it, and doing it at the pace a multi-market launch calendar could absorb. Byline drafts in the morning, engineering review at lunch, press-ready copy by the end of the day.

The engagement covered the launch of the company's European cloud strategy: executive bylines placed in trade publications; press releases coordinated with the announcement cycle; and the deeper technical explainers that sit behind the announcements — the practitioner-level pieces enterprise buyers actually read before they place a GPU order.

Every launch landed complete.

Coordinated byline, release, and explainer on each major product announcement across the engagement, including the flagship data-centre news.

One consistent register across named leaders.

Different engineers, different product areas, one coherent technical voice in public — the thing that's hardest to do through a PR firm, and the thing this engagement existed to deliver.

Re-engaged twice.

Scope extended once mid-project and again at the six-month mark. The honest read on that: when the engineering team trusts the writer, the comms calendar moves faster.

Zapier

Lead AI writer, 2023–2025

Workflow automation for millions of small businesses and technical teams — one of the largest content operations in B2B software

Zapier's blog is a search-engine-first publishing machine that ranks on the practitioner questions buyers actually type, and drives a meaningful share of the company's top-of-funnel sign-ups. As AI tooling became the fastest-moving category in the index, the blog needed coverage that was credible to engineers, readable to non-engineers, and durable enough to hold its ranking through repeated model releases. That coverage was the work.

The brief on each piece was the same, and it wasn't about the keyword. It was about balancing two readers in one article: the marketing operator who needs to know what a tool does and what it costs, and the technical reader who needs to know how it works, where it breaks, and what it replaces. Most publishers pick one of the two audiences and alienate the other. Zapier's register is built to hold both, and the AI category was where that register had to work hardest.

Across two-plus years, the work covered the AI tools buyers were short-listing, the workflows they were building, and the honest trade-offs they kept running into. New releases got rewritten in as they shipped. Older pieces were revisited when the underlying model changed. The bar on every draft was whether an engineer could read it without wincing and a marketer could read it without stopping.

Hundreds of thousands of page views per month.

Sustained across the body of AI coverage. A meaningful share of Zapier's organic search traffic in the category over the engagement.

Multi-year ranking.

Pieces continued ranking and earning from search long after publication — the compounding kind of content that content teams are supposed to produce and rarely actually do.

Set the tone for the category.

The register on the AI beat became the one other writers on the team were edited toward when the coverage expanded.

Led by Harry Guinness — a technology writer with two decades of bylines in the publications your audience trusts and top-performing content on the biggest blogs in the SaaS industry.

Twenty minutes. No nonsense, no questionnaire, just straight to the point.
